It’s hard to start thinking about Fall when it’s so incredibly hot outside still…and well, it’s still summer.  However, I have been to a few Fall previews lately, so it’s starting to creep in.  Slowly.  One of the Fall collections I previewed recently was  Estee Lauder.  Ladies, the bold lip is back and the hues are richer than ever.  There is something so sexy about a bold lip.  Speaking of bold…these earrings are anything but subtle.  I have been on such a no earring or stud kick lately, I forgot how fun an oversized earring can be.

Tomorrow my out of office reply is set to go.  My husband and I are heading up to Pemberton and Whistler until Sunday.  It is our first trip away with just the two of us since we had Maddie. I’m really looking forward to it and at the same time I’m missing Madelyn already.  Here’s to a long weekend and enjoying every minute of summer!  xo

With being a new mom, I have been forced to cut back my “get ready time” to just minutes now.   When it comes to getting dressed I have found the most time saving formula is to have a few go-to “uniforms”.  Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel everyday with a fabulous new look, I simply repeat a version of an outfit I most likely wore earlier in the week.  This week, I stuck to black and white.

black & white

This uniform consists of leggings (worn as tights), a fitted jersey mini skirt, an over-sized sweater, infinity scarf, flats or ankle boots (I’m obsessed with these cute little striped flats from The Gap..WANT!), a cross-body bag (so I can be hands free), a pair of pretty stud earrings, and my fancy little Alice & Olivia Starbucks mug (Momma needs some caffeine).   It’s an easy palette to mix and match. Adding  little gold or silver touches helps add a bit of shine to your look.

You don’t have to be a Mom to create a uniform for yourself.  You gals on a budget…this is a great cost effective way to maximize your wardrobe.

Valentines Day is less than a month away so naturally I’m adoring all the pretty heart prints out in stores. Truthfully I’m not one to make big plans for cupid’s day, but any day that encourages shopping and consuming chocolate is a holiday this gal celebrates in some way!

If you’re like me, I enjoy feminine elements without being too cutesy girly.  Luckily there are options out there beyond the traditional red and pink hearts of our youth.

Black and Gold Love

Black and gold is a classic combination.  It can have a bit of a rock feel to it but when used in pretty ways with hearts and bows, it becomes soft and flirty.  Would you wear hearts or bows?  If these prints are just not you try a heart bowl on your coffee table filled with your favorite candy.  This way you’re sharing the love with everyone in your home.

It seems so strange to be talking about the end of Summer.  We Vancouverites have had an amazing season.  Loads of sunshine and warm weather have been a real treat compared to summer’s past.  With kids going back to school next week and the stores full of beautiful Fall fashion, I’ve been trying to enjoy my last days with my Summer wardrobe.

As I’ve said in previous posts, this year, I’ve been having a harder time wrapping my brain around dressing for Fall as I am perpetually hot.  I seriously was sweating  just looking at Instagrams of girls in knit sweaters yesterday.  Twenty three degrees is too warm for full Fall gear.    However, after perusing the pages of my Fall issues, Ive been starting to plan out how I’m going to style myself to be season appropriate, but still stay cool.   After all, Fall is my favorite season.  When do you make the switch to your Fall wardrobe?

Dress: Topshop maternity, Jacket: AG Jeans, Bag: Nine West, Shoes & Necklace: Target, Ring: c/o Pandora

When it comes to maternity wear, I have found pants and denim the most difficult to find; that is until I took a trip to Mavi jeans.  Mavi offers up the option to have any of their jeans turned into maternity bottoms for only an additional $20 at time of purchase.  They offer a choice of three bands in varying widths and will match up a colour that suits your jeans best.  Mavi has their own in house seamstress to ensure consistent quality work.  I have been wearing my new jeans a ton. They are extremely comfortable and being that I could choose any pair, they are flattering too.

My panels also have an adjustable waistband so I can let it out as my bump grows.
