The holiday season is the perfect time of year to bring out your sparkly clutches.  Weather it’s a gold sequin stunner or a vintage inspired baguette, a bit of shine can make even the simplest dress the star of the party.   Today I was digging through my own collection to see what I’ve got to work with for my upcoming holiday soirees.   Here’s my mix…

If sparkle and shine are not really your thing, try something a little different.

Why not accessorize your accessories?  I took this brown leather vintage clutch ( c/o Shoppalu)  and attached a pretty little vintage broach to add some shine and whimsy.   Now I have a fabulous one-of-a-kind bag that will work with anything from jeans and stilettos to sequins and tulle.

Thursday turned out to be yet another rainy day in Vancouver.  But fear not!  Rumour is, we can be expecting some warm sunny days very soon.

Rainy mornings in June, prove to be a bit of a styling challenge…but Mother Nature, challenge accepted.  I find that simple white is the best way to brighten up my look.  You can’t really get more classic than a white top paired with jeans.  I’ll admit I needed a little retail therapy for my rainy-day-woes and picked up this Staple blouse just this week.  These are the dangers of working in a store.

I love when you “find” things in your closet.  I had forgot about these great silver star hoops I bought at Kitson down in L.A.  It’s so satisfying it’s like shopping without spending money.

I so wish I could wear heels all day long, but my back gets super angry.  At least there are loads of cute little flats and sandals.

Happy Friday Stylistas!

This time of year fashion is all about transitioning from one season to the next.  We’re layering up to stay warm while still looking Spring chic, and we’re digging through our closets and finding forgotten treasures.

With my recent engagement and wedding plans in full swing, I have put myself on a b-b-b-budget.  There, I said it!  Never a fun word, but it’s for a wonderful reason!  Therefore this year more than ever I will be reworking items already in my wardrobe.  It’s always fun to take on a new challenge and finding new ways to wear older pieces.  To keep things feeling fresh and current I have been adding new little finds like floral scarves and fun accessories.

C’mon, I still have to do a little bit of shopping!

I am in no means lacking in things to wear.  My closet is packed and I actually need to purge some things again.  This outfit was a fun way to kick off my personal style challenge.  This long black dress is a Summer staple for me.  To keep it cool weather appropriate, I layered a stripe top and denim jacket with it.  I’m a hat girl, so this fedora was a perfect way to tie the look together.

My fave new accessory is my new engagement ring.  It seems to go with everything;-)

My New Years Resolution of eating right and exercising regularly is still in effect.  I’m proud of me for not bailing on this personal project of mine.  With it I’ve lost weight, my clothes are fitting better, and my confidence is coming back again.

As much as I blog about fashion and what I love, I haven’t really done too much in the way of my own personal style.  But with some new found confidence and a beautiful sunny day, Spring got the better of me and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to snap a few pics.

Heading out for dins with my fella on a sunny Saturday night!
