I’ve been talking a lot about closet cleaning and organization lately.  That is because it had been such a focus for me and my own personal style evolution.  Editing my wardrobe has been therapeutic for me.  I have been finding getting dressed a whole lot easier when I know I love the items hanging in my closet.  Getting ready in the morning has to be as effortless as possible.  When I’m going through my closet and selecting the items that will stay, I like to think of the ways items can be worn together for a fresh feel.  I also have a great mix of national brands, Canadian brands, and items from local shops.

This collection of goodies are perfect for a casual boho feel.  This pair of Old Navy jeans are at the top of my must wear pile.  I kind of live in them. (See them styled here last Spring with a fab thrift shop find.)   This amazing Brave Leather fringe tote is right on trend with its perfectly pink hue. (See it styled here from last year.)  These cute little boots from Plenty were an awesome sale purchase last year and will be great to transition me into the warmer weather…that is bound to show up any day now.   My pretty jewels have been taking a backseat these days. Babies and jewelry don’t mix, unless of course you are wearing some fab teething pieces.  This lovely necklace is from Mama Gems.  She will have the shop closed for a bit to have a baby, however I also love these local Vancouver shops,  Glitter & Spice and LouLouLollipop.

I’ve been so inspired by all the closet purging I’ve been doing that it is going to be a focus throughout my whole home.  This years goal…get rid of all the extra!

I really like to wear black.  I love the way I feel in it and how easy it is.  As a curvy gal, I think there is a certain level of comfort and confidence that comes from wearing black.  It can help me camouflage those squishy bits I don’t completely love about my bod.  So needless to say, this look is a real departure from my usual palette.  With the cherry blossoms in bloom and Spring in my sights (and circled on my calendar), I have been playing with some lighter hued options in my closet.  Yes, I threw a dark grey tank on under my top, but I feel like it helps anchor a lighter breezier outfit.

This is another shop-my-closet outfit.  I’ve been doing well with making smart purchases and thinking about everything I buy, which honestly hasn’t been much.   My everyday attire is usually West + Wind tees and jeans, or leggings and flowy tunics, layered with lots of different cardis and scarves.  I’m continuing to edit, and I now  have more things I am looking to consign.  One thing I feel I’m missing from my wardrobe is that perfect, casual Spring jacket.  Let the hunt commence.   What are you shopping for this Spring season?

Skirt, cardi, blouse, & boots: Plenty
Clutch: Loft
Bracelet: Alden Rae

Today I am sharing a closer look at one of my looks I styled for the Spring issue of Stimuli magazine.  I’m all about comfort in my style, but I also think that you can kick comfort up a notch.  If you’re go-to look is leggings and an oversized cardi, try swapping out the leggings for a comfortable printed skirt.  A soft blouse instead of a tee is another easy way to elevate your everyday style.  Be sure to check out the magazine here.

pants & tote: c/o Old Navy
hat & boots: Plenty
bracelet, necklace, & earrings: c/o Foxy Originals

Spring is almost here!  While I do love to add some colour to my wardrobe when the blossoms start blooming, I’m also just fine sticking with my go-to neutrals.  Black is always in season.  To breath new life into this classic hue, I’ve added a pop of print with these amazingly comfortable pants from Old Navy.   Accessorizing with gold and a large off white tote also brightens up the look.  When making the transition from Winter to Spring, think of mixing and matching your seasons.  Lightweight pants with a felt hat or a silky tunic with ankle boots are great ways to transition.

This fab jewelry is by Foxy Originals.  Foxy is designed and made in Toronto.  That’s right, Canadian made! Local production means they not only support the local job market, they are eliminating transportation and minimizing their carbon footprint.  They have a ton of fun, on trend pieces and are affordable.  The perfect way to do a little accessory update.

Sidenote…how much are we all loving cherry blossom season?  I can’t get enough!

Navy and Grey

Neutrals have been a definite go to for me this year.  Black and white has served me well over the Winter but with warmer days upon us, I’m looking for a fresh batch of neutrals for the Spring season.  I’m quite loving navy right now.  I’ve been purchasing and wearing it quite a bit.  Grey is a must in my wardrobe year round, so pairing it with navy, is an easy update.  Items like a new striped blazer, aviators, and grey ball cap have been perfect Mommy pieces.   Still on my shopping list…a cute pair of ankle boots, new casual flats, and a cozy go-with-anything hoody.
