I adore pouring over the glossy pages of my newest fall issues to see what treasures are in store.  What colours are being shown?  What are the silhouettes?  Have skirt lengths finally gotten longer? (one can only hope)  A new season brings new fashion, shopping, and a frenzy of trying to be the It-Girl with the latest of everything.  Rather than trying to reinvent myself every season, common sense  has me infusing small bits of trends into my closet all while reworking what I already have.

My Fall New-Mom Look inspiration.  I’m planning on items with casual comfort and wash-ability.    I’m thinking soft jersey’s, embellished sweatshirts, flats, denim, tees, and cozy layers.

Perhaps it’s shopping maturity, having other financial responsibilities, my age, or the strain on my wallet that has me now more concerned with dressing for myself instead of for others.  Dressing for others often resulted in strange purchases of items that would get worn once due to feeling ridiculous in them.   It was easy to over shop as one piece purchased would need multiple other components, that I of course didn’t own, to make it work.  Now, I first turn to my already existing wardrobe where I edit, purge, and discover all my wardrobe can offer me.  Of course there is always a missing item (or five) that need to be purchased and added in for an update.  However, my shopping choices are now made with practicality, budget, and my lifestyle in mind.   Can’t say I’ll be rocking the very cute Miu Miu polka dot dresses to breastfeed in.  (Although they do don a half zipper right at the bust.  Hmm??)

Freeing myself of the one-up-manship of  trying to look cuter than everyone else in the mandatory blogger Zara skort and JCrew sequin tee…is well, just that.  Freeing.  I do not live by the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” mentality.  I’m more of a why try and  beat ‘em, just do something different.  With an ever changing figure this season, I’m not exactly sure what my personal style will look like in the upcoming months.  The only think I do know, I plan to look like me and feel good doing it.

Yeh, it’s Friday!  We West Coast peeps are in for a weekend of beautiful summer weather and lots of fun things to do around Vancouver. I have my parents coming for a visit this weekend, so I anticipate a lot of laughs, cooking, and time on the patio.  I hope you all have an amazing weekend.  Happy Friday! xoxo

My love affair continues for this fab (and affordable) shoe line.  Now that warmer weather has finally hit the West Coast, I’ve been wearing a pair of my Sam’s almost everyday.  Even my first pair that have been worn to death and are a little sad looking close up, I still get compliments on.  What can I say… these shoes rock!

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there is a BCBG outlet only minutes from my home.  Of coarse I went in the second I laid eyes on it to see what goodies were in store.  Originally my plan was to do a little pre-scout for my sister’s bridesmaid dress (which I did), but it quickly turned into shopping for me!

It was love at first site when I spotted this fern print maxi dress.  With orange being my favorite color and then mixed with purple???  Oh I’m in!

I love the ease of this dress and it’s versatility.  I bought it and wore it for my engagement party and plan on wearing it to a wedding in Whistler this Summer.  I quickly realized that with the right pieces to layer with it, I can quickly turn it from garden party to a more casual laid back look.  I’m thinking this will be a must pack for a tropical honeymoon;-)

Thursday turned out to be yet another rainy day in Vancouver.  But fear not!  Rumour is, we can be expecting some warm sunny days very soon.

Rainy mornings in June, prove to be a bit of a styling challenge…but Mother Nature, challenge accepted.  I find that simple white is the best way to brighten up my look.  You can’t really get more classic than a white top paired with jeans.  I’ll admit I needed a little retail therapy for my rainy-day-woes and picked up this Staple blouse just this week.  These are the dangers of working in a store.

I love when you “find” things in your closet.  I had forgot about these great silver star hoops I bought at Kitson down in L.A.  It’s so satisfying it’s like shopping without spending money.

I so wish I could wear heels all day long, but my back gets super angry.  At least there are loads of cute little flats and sandals.

Happy Friday Stylistas!
