This past Saturday was the very first Vancouver Blogger Clothing Sale.  Our fantastic organizers, Alicia and Cee, got all us gals to clean out our closets and offer up our goods to our readers and fellow fashion enthusiasts.  With prices ranging from $2-$50, there was a little something for everyone.

Booth Buddies!  The always lovely Miss Melissa.

We thought it would be a popular event but had no idea the enormity of it all.  We had people lining up early to get their spot at the head of the line.  The first 50 people received a goody bag full of swag!  It didn’t take long before the line was wrapped around the block.

We offered up coffee, cupcakes, and cookies to keep our shoppers well fueled while they went from booth to booth.   There was a great variety of pieces being sold.  Dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, jackets, jeans, suits, hats, jewelry, scarves, belts, purses…you name it, if it had to do with fashion, we had it!  Not to mention, since all we gals, are different ages and body types, we had a great variety of sizes to choose from.  I don’t think anyone left empty handed.

Did you come?  Were you able to find some new treasures?   Thank you to all of you who attended:)  Check out my Facebook page for more pics from this event.

This vest came home with me!

On Saturday I braved the cold weather to head down town for the Le Chateau and Flare Holiday Event.  We were treated to cocktails and macrons along with hair touch ups and manicures by Suki’s.

The lovely Niki of A Haute Mess doing some shopping.

Models walked through the store wearing this season’s latest looks and onlookers enjoyed fashion demonstrations.  Admittedly, I have not really shopped at Le Chateau since high school (I will spare you with how long ago that was).  I was pleasantly surprised to find some very cute things.  I took advantage of their sweater promotion (Buy 1 Get 1 30% off), as well as found a cute little fur vest, and a grey pashmina.  I must say Le Chateau has always had an amazing selection of pashminas for $15.

Dress: Anthropologie (a San Fran purchase), Leather jacket: Michael Kors

Wednesday night was Vancouver’s West 4th’s Avenue‘s Fashion’s First Night!  It was an evening of style, goodies, shopping, and fashion!  As many of you know I’m the GM for a ladies clothing company and one of our locations is on 4th Ave.  Our boutique hosted two of my favorite fashion bloggers…Melissa of Miss Melissa and Cara of A Fashion Love Affair.

These lovely ladies did live styling demos in our windows.

They featured two of The Urban Rack‘s feature brands, Metalicus and Lilla P. They mixed and matched textures and lines to feature the hot looks for Fall.

The lovely Alexandra of the To Vogue or Bust blog has recently done a three part series featuring her fave local Vancouver bloggers.  I was honored to see my name listed in her third and final part of her series.

I’m in amazing  company with some of my own favourite blogs like Miss Melissa, Alicia Fashionista, The Anthology, A Haute Mess, and so many other talented and stylish women.

Here’s what Alexandra had to say about me…

” The aptly-named Prairie Girl in the City documents Jen, a former prairie girl who made the move to Vancouver, and her experiences in the local fashion industry, her fashion inspirations, and her general musings.

If you want a good look into the local industry and its social scene, Jen’s blog is the perfect one-stop-shop.  She documents the going-ons of the city beautifully, and I love that she always includes what’s going on in her own life too.  Some bloggers make the choice to not open up too much on their sites, which, depending on the type of content one has on their blog, could be a wise decision.  Having said that though, when it comes to personal blogs, I tend to gravitate to the ones in which you actually get to know the person through their entries.  Jen’s is definitely like that, and that’s why I visit so regularly! ”

Be sure to visit To Vogue or Bust to read about this and so much more!

Thanks Alexandra for the blog love.

Your articles were wonderful and you have introduced me to some new blog gems. xo
