I can’t quite believe it, but here I am writing about back to school.  My little Madelyn is starting preschool this Fall.  She is so excited!  I hope she stays that excited when the day actually comes.  We are less than a week away from her staring.  We bought her this adorable backpack when we went on our trip to Palm Springs last Fall.  She hasn’t really used it since, so it feels new to her again. I found her these cute little jeans at the JBF Consignment sale back in the Spring.  They were a bit big on her, but fit great now!   I plan on doing a bit more thrift shopping for her (and maybe for myself for maternity wear).  Thrifting is such a great to not only save money, but to also make a smaller footprint on the environment.

I had to, of course, grab Maddie a couple tees from my shop West + Wind.  In case you missed the announcement, my business partner Kait and I will be closing our shop at the end of September.  Kait is expecting her first child in just a few weeks, and I am expecting twins at the end of the year.  With all these babies on the way, we decided our focus should be on our growing families.  We have a BIG sale on now.  All our adult tees are all $20, kids tees are $12, the Thrift Tees are just $7, and all jewelry is $10 and under.  Okay…..that’s enough of my sales pitch;)

So Momma’s…where do you like to shop for your ones for all there back to school looks?  Do you thrift?  Online shop?  Hit up the local shops?  To head to the national brand stores?

I thought I’d kick off the weekend thinking of warmer weather.  We have been up and down so drastically here on the West Coast.  Everyday is a surprise.  I am soooooo happy it’s the long weekend!  I’m going to try and unplug a bit this weekend and spend some time with this cutie and Remo.  I have some new posts coming soon.  I have been a bit MIA lately.  Been busy working on some fun new things for West + Wind and, of course, Mommying.  Hopefully my trusty photographer will be up for some picture taking this weekend so I can share some new additions to my closet.

I still can’t believe how fast this little bean is growing up!  I couldn’t resist posting a separate post with her in this adorable little summer outfit.  I love her last pic.  She has mastered the blogger casual walk while taking pics.

Also, I would love your votes!  I have been nominated as one of the Top Vancouver Mom Bloggers.  You can vote here.

Happy Long Weekend All!

I’m not sure if I dress Madelyn like me or if I dress her in things I wish I could wear.  This black and white outfit is an absolute new fave of mine!  When I spotted these VonBon Apparel black and white harem pants ON SALE, I had to snatch a pair up.  They are, of course, the perfect pants to pair with her West + Wind tees.  I think because of our W+W kids collection I’ve been really drawn to black and white for her.  I do infuse colour into her outfits too…she’s a kid after all.  The matching headband and her cute kitty shoes keep her outfit playful and not too grown up looking.  She’s only two, and I want her to stay little as long as possible.

I’m a big fan of reusable decorations.  This adorable bunting was from Maddie’s birthday party in November.  Why buy disposable decor when something like this can be used over and over again? Mitani is another local Vancouver, BC label.  Loads of local love in this post!

Maddie and I couldn’t help but getting all dolled up in our new party dresses and snapping some pics.  This beautiful lace dress I’m wearing from Voodoo Vixen, I have worn a couple times this holiday season already.  I love this dress so much that I also have it in a deep green.  A perfect dress for so many body types.  You will hear me say the word cozy a lot in my posts.  Clearly comfort is a BIG part of my life.  With the chilly temps, Madelyn and I felt like some faux fur layers were the way to go. Warm and cozy.   I  had so much fun styling up Maddie in this adorable dress from Redrabbit Boutique.  I am so happy she has some growing room in this one.  These uber cute kitty cat shoes I found her are the perfect little holiday shoe that she can wear into the spring (hoping no crazy growth spurt happens before then).  Every girl should have some playful in her wardrobe!

I thought I would kick off the weekend with a style post featuring my Little Miss, Madelyn.  Gap Kids has launched a limited edition collection with Peanuts™.  The line embodies the spirit of the Peanuts™ characters.  I immediately fell in love with these pieces.  They are offering up items for  newborn, toddler, boys and girls.  It is seriously adorable!

I have been having so much fun dressing Maddie lately.  Her fun little personality inspires the pieces I pick for her.  I firmly believe that kids clothes can be cute with some style, but should ultimately inspire play and be nothing but comfortable.  Kids want to  run, skip, jump, climb, crawl, and need clothes to move freely in. She is now taking more notice of things she wears and will even comment “ohh pretty”.  When she says this, it doesn’t seem to be about the way garment looks or how she looks in it (as she has no mirror in her room, obviously).  She comments after I put her in the clothes.  ”Pretty” for her seems to be more a feeling.  I could learn a thing or two from her!  Here’s hoping that feeling sticks around for a while.
