New Years Eve used to be about me shopping for a new fabulous outfit, getting all dressed up, and breaking in a new pair of heels until the wee hours of the New Year.  Soooo, life has changed a little.  This year I’m shopping my own wardrobe, finding something cute but comfortable, and I’ll be sipping champagne with my loves until…well, until we get tired and decide it’s time to go to bed.  {You can always celebrate Eastern time.}

We have no idea what exactly we’ll be doing tonight, but we know it will be low key and as a family.  This look I styled with items from my wardrobe.  I  kept comfort the priority and then added touches of shine and glamour.  Tonight’s look might be an even more casual approach, but I’m ok with that; as long as there is bubbly.

Happy New Year!

Not me…this weather!  It is hard to believe that it is just past mid-September and we are still in the middle of a heat wave.  It was 30 degrees at my house a couple days ago.  Wowzas!  While I do love this prolonged sunshine, I could use just a bit of a cool down.  Not to be a brat, but I’ve got Fall shopping to do and this extreme heat is delaying me playing with cozy layers.

Continuing with the transitioning part of this time of year, I’m opting for snug skirts with bare legs, flowy easy blouses, and, my fave, ankle boots.  On a hot day I have to pull my hair back, so a high pony seemed like the perfect {and easy} choice.  I’ve also completely fallen in love with statement earrings.  These beauties from Olive & Piper totally made my look a bit more oh la la.

At only 5 weeks until my due date (where has the time gone???) I definitely feel myself slowing down.  I’m not venturing off too far on my own, I think I’ve attended the last of events for now, and I’m now busy nesting (and resting when I can).  Lately even the simplest things like getting dressed in the morning or putting on my shoes leave me short of breath and needing a nap.  Working from home is such a blessing.  I adore all my cozies right now and spend most of my days in leggings, jersey, and knits.  Sure I merchandise it up a bit with some accessories but comfortable and casual are the best ways to describe my current look.  How do you dress up your casual clothes?

With the arrival of September and showers I’ve been forced to start planning my wardrobe strategy for the remainder of my pregnancy.  I’m in the home stretch (less than 2 and a half months to go), but constant hot flashes and my switch over to maternity underwear (overshare?), are making me want to stick to barely there summer fabrics.  To make the transition, I’m opting for light weight pieces, bare legs, and richer/darker hues.  I have had this little black skirt by Metalicus for years.  It’s always been a go-to item for me, but I think I will be grabbing it even more often this Fall.  (So grateful I also own it in grey.)   All hail the stretchy tube skirt.  How are you making the transition from Summer to Fall?

Usually this time of year I’m starting to gear up for Fall.  I adore Fall fashion.  Cozy knits, leather boots, and loads of layers.  This year with our current heat wave and my internal thermostat peaking  from my little peanut, Fall clothes have never been further from my mind.  I plan to stretch out my summer wardrobe as long as possible.  With approximately 40 days left in Summer, I’m gonna ride out my hot weather style.
