Vancouver based designer Trudy Wynans launched her unique handcrafted jewellery collection in the Spring of 2006.  I discovered how much I love the line in the Fall of 2011.

I had the pleasure of attending this years One Of A Kind Show Vancouver.   I was overwhelmed with the variety of talent and plan on sharing some of my favourite vendors I found, one of which was TOODLEBUNNY.   I picked myself up a super cute gold owl neckl

ace from her TOODLES collection.

So many owls to choose from (my fave), but I went with the gold on gold one on the far left.

Trudy’s designs have an organic feel with use of birds, tusks, and leaves.  There is an element of fun and whimsy along with clean and modern lines.  Her pieces feel girly and feminine with a bit of an edge.  I think this is what drew me to her collection.

I love this piece!  The gold heart and bow are so sweet, but the element of black adds personality to a sweet necklace.

Another amazing piece.  This bracelet is 14k gold woven with leather.  It has amazing texture and the multi chain fringe!?!…amazing!

If you’d like to see even more of Trudy’s designs, visit her website by clicking here .  You can currently find the TOODLEBUNNY and Toodles collections at some amazing local Vancouver boutiques like the Barefoot Contessa, Briers, and LYNN Steven.

Because we all like to look at something pretty and sparkly, I thought I would share a few goodies I’ve come across that I would be so happy to find in my stocking!

Since I love to shop local, I’ve included lots of local Vancouver finds.

Happy Friday! xo

This is a guest post by the lovely Jess Lam of Style Says.

Holiday parties every weekend, snow is on the ground and Love Actually is stuck on repeat. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Though it’s not all bliss. Holiday shopping can be stressful, tiring and turn some people in a real Grinch. But fear not I’m here with a few of my favorite holiday shopping tips.

My name is Jess and I’m a recent college grad who grew up on a farm in the midwestern US. Christmas is kind of a big deal at my house and I’ve always been neurotic when it comes to gift giving. This has opened my eyes to a few
tricks to skip the crowded malls, save a little time and money.

I’m here to share what I’ve learned with you.

Full disclosure: this strange behavior eventually turned into a fashion site that I run with a couple friends called StyleSays. More to come on that in a sec.

5. Think Different

With so many options you should be bold, be unique and really make your friends+fam feel special. It can be hard to know where to start so StyleSays makes it easy by finding the best items from all of your favorite stores. And if
you really want to be unique look for a handmade item from one of the many online marketplaces like Etsy.

4. Use Wish Lists

Wish hard enough and it may come true. Almost every site has a wish list that makes organizing gift ideas a lot easier. But you need to have all of your wish lists in one place to really compare gifts. StyleSays makes it easy to save your
favorite items from all of your favorite sites so you can compare gifts and prices side-by-side. Shopping should be fun and easy, right?

3. Free Returns

When you’re doing all your holiday shopping at the mall this isn’t a problem but if you’re buying online it’s mega important to find stores with friendly return policies.
Here are a few stores that have friendly return policies: ModCloth, Free People, Zappos and ShopBop. ASOS has great return policies for international shipping too.

2. Shop Locally (online)

Shopping locally doesn’t mean you have to run all over town braving traffic and the cold, though that’s part of the adventure. You can check your favorite boutique’s online stores to make sure they have just what you’re looking for.
Lynn Steven’s of Vancouver has a great online selection. I went ahead and added some of my favorites to the Vancouver boutique LYNNsteven on StyleSays.

1. Treat yourself

Don’t end up with another pair of socks or a candle. Let people know you want those new Marc Jacobs bag or a pair of classic Ray Ban’s. Make it easy on them and create a collection of all the things you want to see under the tree and then send that link around to all the Santas in your life.

BONUS!

And guess what, you could win items from that Christmas List incase you don’t get everything you want.

StyleSays is playing Santa this year! Enter our Christmas List giveaway and you could win an item from your list. It’s super easy to enter. 1) Make a Christmas List and 2) Share it with a few friends.

Thank you to Jen and her lovely readers!

Happy Holidays!
Jess

My New Years Resolution of eating right and exercising regularly is still in effect.  I’m proud of me for not bailing on this personal project of mine.  With it I’ve lost weight, my clothes are fitting better, and my confidence is coming back again.

As much as I blog about fashion and what I love, I haven’t really done too much in the way of my own personal style.  But with some new found confidence and a beautiful sunny day, Spring got the better of me and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to snap a few pics.

Heading out for dins with my fella on a sunny Saturday night!

Leather jacket: vintage.

I  always find this time of year tricky when it comes to getting dressed.  It’s still Winter weather wise, but in fashion world, it’s Spring.  I’m ready to retire my heavy wool coats, lined boots, and chunky knits but the weather just won’t let me.  So,  in order to satisfy my warmer weather fashion cravings but keep warm, I layer and do some fun mixing and matching with my wardrobe.  I’m adding in more colour and layering floral tops and light weight dresses with tights, boots, and cardigans.

Lately my go to look has been my tunics.  Some are shirt length and I pair them with my skinny jeans and boots or ballet flats.

Tolani paisley tunic from Lynn Steven

Bird pendant from Paboom; crystal necklace from Nordstrom Rack

Inwear Tunic and Brave belt from The Urban Rack

Brave Leather belt

Others are more dress length which I can pair with my cardis and tights.  I add coloured scarves and stack on bangles to keep it fresh  and fun!  Belts are a must for my curvy figure.  I will throw a belt over almost anything.  LOVE my belt collection!

So ladies, don’t despair…the sun might not yet be shining, but I challenge you to have fun and play with your wardrobe.  If you don’t have the pieces to make your look work for you…go shopping!  I mean, what’s a girl to do???  Better yet, shop like Prairie Girl and shop local boutiques:-)
