So, how has 2016 been going for you all so far?  For me it’s been quieter and giving me time to, bit by bit, organize my life.  Been working on new things for West + Wind (always exciting), photoshoots, writing, home & office organization, plus time with the family.  It has gotten chilly again here on the West Coast and, unfortunately, the clouds and rain have settled in and plan on staying for a while.  Boo.  For a little escape, we are planning to head up to Whistler this weekend for some snow time.

As drab as the colours can be, black and grey has been on repeat for me lately.  I guess it’s easy and helps with the whole “wow, I ate a lot over the holidays and feel huge” state of mind I’m in in the morning.  I really do refuse to be uncomfortable.  I have been living in cozy knits, warm socks, and probably sweat pants a bit too often.  For those days when I’m going to put on real pants, I opt for my black jeans usually.  They are actually starting to fade because I’m wearing them so much.   A new pair is definitely in order.  Speaking of new….this new drapey cardi from Point Zero is such an awesome little layering piece.  The faux leather sleeve detail is so cute and since it’s a bit too big for me, I’ve been layering it over sweaters. My other must have accessory right now…a coffee to go!  Yay for caffeine.

I often choose boho inspired pieces for the warmer months, but don’t really think of it for Winter.  If there was such a thing as a Winter music festival….Coa-chilla?….I would want to think I would wear something like this.  I’m pretty sure that hats, fringe, and messy hair are music festival staples now.  This look was a nice change up from my giant sweaters I’ve been wrapped up in my office in.  The boot, vest, and hair coordinating was kinda awesome too.  Clearly this outfit was meant to be.

I definitely gravitate to a lot of black these days.  It’s flattering and offers the perfect backdrop for layered pieces and accessories.  Hats have also been my saviour lately.  With loads of rainy days and each day being fuller than the next, a hat to cover my messy locks is a no brainer.  I’m still in the midst of one of the most hectic times of my life right now and admittedly have had few stylish moments as of late.  Thank you to Hunni’s for this fun collab.  You made this Momma feel pretty in something new.

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is a month away today.  How did that happen?  This year I am planning on doing some cute little DIY prezzies and Christmas baking.  I am also working on some fun new posts for the holiday season, sharing some products I’m loving, and my Little Madelyn may even be making an appearance in a post or two.

I have officially come to the end of all the event planning I have had going on over the last couple of months.  LOVE planning events and parties (especially when one includes my Baby Girl’s first Birthday); but really appreciate when it all comes to an end and I have a bit more down time.  I spent the weekend with my two loves, just relaxing and doing a couple of fun outings.  Comfort was essential and so were these boots.

Love Winter is a Canadian company on a mission to make us fall in love with winter.  They want people to get outside and enjoy!  A perfect message for this time of year.  There is nothing I love more then getting all bundled and cozy and going for a family walk after dinner to check out all the Christmas lights in the neighbourhood.

The Love Winter boots are actually a modern version of a traditional Russian Valenki boots.  They are designed to keep you warm even during the coldest winter days.  My favourite feature is that they have interchangeable galoshes.  You can stick with a classic colour like I did or switch it up with bright pink, blue, or yellow!  The galoshes easily slip off the boot so you can go from outdoor boot to indoor slipper.  Love that!

One of my reasons for loving Fall fashion is all the lovely layers.  I adore layering!  It’s flattering and adds visual interest to any outfit.  With hot summers, like we’ve been having, layering becomes a bit more tricky.  Over the years, I’ve found ways to incorporate layers into my warm weather wardrobe.  Chiffon print cardis like this one along with cotton vests have become my go-to.  They add that little something extra without the unnecessary added warmth.  Do you layer in the summer?  How do you make it work?

Dress: Pink Martini, Cardi: Forever 21, Shoes: Target, Necklaces: c/o Katami Designs & Karen Telio, Bracelet: Bfrend, Clutch: c/o Shoppalu,  Ring: gift

These are a few of my favorite things… movie nights at home with my husband, cozy wool scarves, dinner with my girlfriends,  just one more chocolate, a fresh bouquet of flowers,  eggnog lattes…I think this list could go on and on and on…

… I also love to give gifts.  This is a sneak peek of a fabulous holiday giveaway I’ll have coming soon!  Be sure to check back.
