For my hot weather vacation….

I often get a chill when I’m traveling.  A pretty pashmina is the perfect way to keep warm on the plane.  I think I’m going to bring this pretty soft yellow one by Love Quotes.

I usually wear slip ons like ballet flats or Toms when I travel.  They are easy for going through security.  However after my experience of being barefoot in LAX (yuck!) I now wear little sockettes.  No more disgusting barefoot blunders for this gal.  As practical as they are they don’t really keep my feet warm.  I like to throw in a cozy pair too to wear during the flight.

Thank you to MizMooz for introducing me to Flipsters. (c/o)   These sandals flip into a small little travel case and take up no room at all in your carry on or purse.  They are so handy for pedi’s and for when you arrive at your hot weather destination.

Of course I take advantage of down time to catch up on important current events…in fashion anyway.  They double as my beach reads too.

Bath & BodyWorks hand sani , Nosees tissues, Barefoot Venus Coconut Kiss light scented lotion, Lancome Juicy Tubes “Raspberry Ice” lip gloss, Almay makeup eraser sticks (to get rid of those raccoon eyes) c/o, Vaseline cocoa butter lip therapy (the cutest little bottle I’ve ever seen).

Yes, I am counting all these products as one thing.  Whether it’s a car trip or a plane ride, I like to have a few of my essentials with me to  help me feel fresh when I arrive.  I also like to keep a pack of Emergen-C  in my bag for a little vitamin boost.  What do you like to pack?

Even though I am leaving on Sunday, I will have daily posts coming your way while I’m gone.  New outfit posts, brag photos from Maui;) , and more!  Aloha!

It can be a real shock to the system to go from your winter beauty hibernation to full on summer skin exposure.  No, I’m not complaining that I get to enjoy a tropical winter vacation in Maui, but the thought of my body being unwrapped from it’s many layers of warmth and concealment is slightly worrisome.  With this in mind, this week I’ve been in full prep mode.  Here’s my before leaving beauty checklist:

1) Apply sunless tanner daily ( I use Lancome’s Flash Bronzer and Jergens Natual Glow)  2) Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize (This is a regular routine for me anyway, but I have kicked it up a notch.  I like Lancome’s Nutrix Royal Body.  At night I use Estee Lauder‘s Eye Night Serum (c/o)…a must!)  3) Pretty nails are an easy way to Summerize your look.  (I’m loving the new Spring hues from Joe Fresh! c/o)  4) Daily exfoliation is a great way to help give your skin a glow.  ( I use Dermalogica‘s Daily Microfoliant for my face.  5) Getting my feet sandal ready is always a bit of a chore.  To make sure they are soft and smooth, I have been using the Emjoi Micro-Pedi (c/o).  It’s a battery operated device that gently buffs away dry, hard skin from your tootsies.  It works really well.

Products I’ll be bringing with me include….Body Shop grapefruit body butter,(c/o) Joe Fresh polish (for touch ups), (c/o) Cherlyn Skincare products (I’m really in love with this line.  I’ve been trying out the product for a while now & I’m loving my soft skin and it’s fresh scent.  They use 100% natural ingredients and their products are designed to nourish the skin, promote healing, and provide a revitalizing lift for all skin types.),  Batiste dry shampoo (This stuff is amazing! I like the tropical scent for hot weather destinations),  (c/o) Avene Thermal Spring Water spritz, Dermalogica tinted moisturizer (with SPF), NYX waterproof mascara, (c/o) Joe Fresh “Just Peachy” eye & lip palette, (c/o) Lush Skin Tint (It gives your skin a warm glow).

Earrings: Love Coco c/o,  Sweater: Banana Republic, Ring: Paboom (old)

Before packing my bags I like to come up with a plan so I don’t pack un-needed clothes and products.  I suggest trying out a summer inspired look at home so you’re not packing your oxblood lipstick and winter hued shadows.

My complete look…soft and peachy.

Have any hot weather beauty tips or tricks?  I’d love to hear about them.

I have been commuting for the last few years now.  Commuting forces me to be organized in the morning before I leave the house.  As much as I plan ahead sometimes things come up like an extra meeting or an impromptu dinner.   Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury to quickly run home for a little primp.   Instead my car has to double as a beauty parlor.  These are my essentials.

Bag: Lancome, Lipstick: Estee Lauder, Lipgloss: Lancome, Mascara: Almay, Brush: Lancome, Face creme: Lancome, Earrings: gift, Tissues: sniff,  Bronzer: Too Faced, Eyeliner: Revlon,  Tide-To-Go, Hair ties: Splendid;  Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel:  Bath & Body Works;  Sugar-free gum

By taking these key beauty items with me I can switch my makeup from a day to evening look.  I change my gloss to a rich lipstick, pump up my eyes with some liner, and add a sparkly earring and I’m set.  Things like hair ties and stain remover are my just in case items.  Hand gel, gum, and lip gloss are my must haves to leave the house.

What beauty item can you not leave the house without?

Black and gold have been my colour palette of choice this season, so when I saw Lancome‘s holiday collection it was love at first site.  Since they threw in a splash of bordeax too, I was in extra love.  Even the cases come in sparkly gold.  These could be some fun products to try for New Years…if I do something that involves me actually going out.  Like everyone else…plans are still up in the air.

I find when the summer months and hot weather roll around, my beauty routine changes.   Make-up starts to run off my face and I’m wanting to have more of a healthy glow rather than loads of product on my face.  Here are a few products I’m currently loving.

This Skinperfect Primer by Dermalogica helps prevent my makeup from melting and gives a beautiful light shimmer to the skin.

This Sun Bunny bronzing powder by Too Faced is a fave of mine!  It gives my skin a healthy sun-kissed glow.

Sun protection is crucial.  This great new tinted moisturizer by Skin Ceuticals also has a SPF 50 in it.  It’s so light I don’t feel like I have anything on my face.

Lancome‘s Flash Bronzer gel is how I give my body all over instant colour.  My white legs need all the help they can get!

Don’t blush and get embarrassed.  Let’s face it, on a hot summer day, we want to be able to keep every inch of us fresh and clean.   These  fabulous personal care products by I Love My Muff are available in a shower wash, lotion, spritz, and individually wrapped wipes (perfect for your purse).

Congratulations to Brooke Holmes!  You are the lucky winner of the Hollywood Fashion Tape Fashion Shapes Giveaway.  I will contact you to get your mailing info:)
