Last night I attended a shopping and trend talk event at Topshop.  The Western Editor, Joy Pecknold,  for Fashion Magazine was on hand to show us some amazing music festival inspired looks.  After we got to shop the store to find treasures of our own.  I was immediately drawn to all the super cute dresses they have in.  (And one may have found it’s way home with me.)  Here are five dresses that caught my eye.

Hawaiian Boat Print Sundress $66

Block Print Sleeveless Bodycon dress $52

Embroidered Hem Flippy Dress $84

Neon Animal Tunic Dress $70

Zig Zag Aztec Tunic $48

We ladies of The Style Common had an amazing night at the Plenty Spring 2013 event on Tuesday night.  Here are five of my fave pics of the event that really sum up the night.

If you are a Vancouverite, then you know Plenty.  Plenty first opened it’s doors in 1989 and has been considered a go-to fashion destination ever since.  It stocks its racks with a lovely mixture of their own in house labels (Propaganda, Ribbon, Ribbon Luxe, Monk & Lou, and Big Blue) as well as complimenting national brands like Free People and Maison Scotch.  They boast a well stocked denim bar and carry all the extras from hats to shoes to complete your laid back West Coast look, with a bit of city-chic thrown in.

I recently had the pleasure of attending their Fall Fashion Event where I got a first hand look at their lovely assortment of dresses, cardis, coats, boots, and anything else you could possibly need for Fall.  The Western Fashion Editor of Fashion Magazine, Joy Pecknold, was on hand to show us some perfect Fall looks.

Currently, Plenty has five locations: The two level flagship store in Kitsilano, on Robson Street, a newly renovated space in Metropolis at Metrotown Centre,  Richmond Centre, and their newly opened space at Uptown Centre in Victoria, B.C.

At a recent event I had a great conversation that validated how I’ve been feeling lately.  Why can’t we just say hello?  Event after event I see similar faces (Vancouver is not that big), and time after time there are missed opportunities for a simple hello.   I don’t know why this is ???  Why do we lurk in a corner, telling the people we already know, who we think someone is across the room?  You know you’ve done it…heck I’ve done it.  We put up invisible walls and give ourselves tons of great excuses to not make the effort to introduce ourselves.

I consider myself a pretty outgoing person.  Humour is my thing and it makes my day when I can make someone laugh.   For some reason I find I get stuck.  Stuck in the comfort of knowing who I know.  This funny little conversation happened between myself, Alicia of Alicia Fashionista, and  Joy Pecknold, the Western Editor for Fashion Magazine.   Joy came over to me, said hello, and we had a great conversation…no one got hurt.   It was my first time meeting Joy ( I had only previously lurked. ) I adored her fun and playful humour and was really glad she came to say hello.
