“The best thing to hold on to in life is each other.” – Audrey Hepburn

ro·mance/roh-mans/

Noun: A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.

Romance is different to everyone.  For some it’s grand gestures of poems, jewelry, and hot air balloon rides.  For others, it’s the small stuff that counts.  I would have to say I would fall in to the latter category.  A girlfriend stopping by work with a cup of my fave tea, my husband bringing home a new wine for us to try, or one of my oldest friends booking a last minute flight to surprise me with a fun girls weekend, have been some of my most romantic moments.

The most romantic day of my life.

Like many of you, I can struggle with the idea of Valentine’s Day.  A day where single’s can feel left out and those who are attached feel the need to “romance” the crap out of each other.  Rather than giving up on the day all together, I use it as the perfect opportunity to be grateful for the relationships in my life.   I spend one night with my husband and one night with the girls….now dubbed Galentine’s Day. (Inspired by the TV show Parks and Rec)

To all the single ladies out there, don’t feel like Valentines Day isn’t for you.  I have spent many many Valentine’s Days as a single gal.  A date night with one of your gal pals is the best!  Some of my most romantic moments have been with my girls.  My girls have been my dates on New Years Eve, my late night gab session companions, my Birthday party planners, and have traveled with me to places like New York, France, and Thailand.

So whether you’re single, married, or maybe just newly dating someone, be sure to recognize the romance in your life, in all it’s forms.  What do you find romantic?

In case I haven’t mentioned it;-) …. I got married on October 22nd.  For those of you sick of hearing about it, I’m almost done talking about it.  Promise.

Of course the dress has been a much asked about item, so thought it was only fair to finally reveal my photos of the dress.

First things first, people ask, how do you know when you’ve found the one. I knew he was the one when he converted a spare room into a showcase closet for me. And, he built it with his own hands, right down to hanging the chandelier. Well, I knew before that, but that was just another sign that he was it.

Leaving our house and heading to the church.

Hitched and happy!

I’m back!  Back from time with family, my wedding, and my honeymoon.  It’s hard to believe our wedding has come and gone and I am now the little Mrs.

We had an amazing day with friends and family!  We laughed, we ate, we danced, and all had a ridiculous amount of fun.  I’m a details girl and love all the little things that made our day unique with our personal mark on the day.

Here are a few of my favorite little parts of our day…

Our DIY programs.  We love Michaels Craft store! And our beautiful center pieces with flowers by our amazing florist, Tala Florist.

Our hand wrapped, with love, favours; Sexy-Peel Soaps from Lush. And our table of homemade goodies!

Our silver trays were family heirlooms.  The picture frames, I collected.

My jewelry… wrap bracelet made by me, earrings by Vancouver designer Zuka.

My pretty little clutch from Oh My Gift.  This Apple & Bee collection is all organic and so beautiful.

Two of the big hits at the wedding were, the fact that the boys didn’t wear the traditional white shirts and tuxes.  They went with grey suits and purple shirts.  They were very fancy in their Harry Rosen purchases. And then there was my sister’s show stopping bridesmaid shoes. Oh those shoes!

And finally, last but not least, was what I wore. My Badgley Mischka shoes and here’s a little sneak peak at my dress.  I loved my dress!  The most beautiful I have ever felt.

There will me more dress shots to come.  My dress is from Bizou Bridal.

Our amazing photographer was Jamie Delaine
