It was quite the week of fashion, glamor, note and picture taking. Last night was the final night Vancouver Fashion Week and it did not disappoint.
American designer Gordana was from Season Six of Project Runway. Her “Lady of Lake” themed collection was airy and elegant. She featured long flowing gowns in soft colors with accents of black and sequins.
The UK’s Lisa Jayne Dann had a very eclectic collection. For me, her very first runway piece was the highlight of the show. A gorgeous ivory trench with beautiful construction. The rest of her collection was a combination of long animal print dresses, oversized bags, and drapey jumpsuits.
UK designer James Steward went with a Greek Mythology themed collection he entitled “Clash of the Titan’s”. He showed floral lined overcoats, pin-tucking detail on sleeveless trapeze frocks, and added oversized fuchsia ant broaches for embellishment.
It was a packed house for Japanese designer Chiyuki Sugimoto. The collection was that of beauty and happiness. The frocks were of mix and match florals, plaids, and gingham. Sequins, rosettes, and feather detail was found throughout the collection. The floor length knit tennis dress and full length shirt dress were pieces that really stood out.
What’s fashion week without a couture collection of gowns? Simin Haute Couture from California provided the wow of the evening which included an $80,000 gown.
Vancouver labels Kersh and Press wrapped up the evening and the week. Both lines boasted bright colors and patterns. Kersh used color combination’s of coral and chocolate browns, and yellows with navy.
Press showed tye dye prints, loose knit vests, and skinny cargos.
