The last couple of years I have had a lot of different shades of grey work their way into my closet.  Grey is a soft alternative to black, it’s just as versatile, but a bit more visually interesting.  Since I have so much of this colour I often wear grey with grey.   I guess when I want to be cozy on a grey day, I match my outfit to the weather.  This scarf has been my obsession this winter.   It’s just so darn warm and the colour is well, not grey but matches well with everything it seems.  My mother-in-law knit it for me last year.  I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again.

Gotta love an outfit that will take you from a meeting, to dinner with a girlfriend (where you forget your wallet at home…Thanks Melissa for buying me dinner) …. then off to a shopping event,  followed by a fashion show.  A busy day, lovely company and free food.  What more could a girl ask for? ;)

Every Spring, Vancouver Boutique, The Urban Rack hold their Spring Awakening Fashion Show and Charity Event.  Oh, and I just also happen to organize and model in the show every year too;)   The Urban Rack carries some fun, casual brands like Splendid, Maison Scotch by Scotch & Soda, AG Jeans, Fidelity Denim, Bardot, and about 30+ more brands!

This years charity of choice was Canuck Place  , a local Vancouver Pediatric hospital.   We were successful in raising $2500 in only 2 short hours.  Here are some of the looks I strut down the runway in….

Recently I heard a woman say “I can’t wear coloured denim, I’m too big.”   This was such a false statement.  First of all she wasn’t big, and second of all it’s all about the styling.

It’s no secret that I’m not a size 2.  I’ve got a booty and ample thighs but that doesn’t mean I’m going to miss out on the coloured denim trend.  While I probably won’t be rocking a pastel pair of skinnies with a mid-drift bearing top, I have found ways that work for me.

Not only is Coloured denim hot this season, but colour with colour is being shown everywhere.   For those a bit more fearful of this idea I suggest a single colour in multiple shades.   Here I paired my teal jeans with a navy, floral print chiffon cardi.  To play off the bit of green in the print I partnered the look with a green structured bag.

Jeans: Fidelity Denim’s “Stevie“, Chiffon Cardi: Forever 21, Bag: Co-Lab, Shoes: Nine West, Sunnies: Le Chateau

Here I’ve taken the same teal jeans and gone full throttle with colour.  It’s the same idea as the previous look with a floral print cardi, but this bright orange silk Winter Kate piece intesifies the look.

I should also mention that as important as the styling is, fit is also key.  These Fidelity Stevie’s are a perfect fit for me; higher in the rise and a fuller cut in the hip, bum, and thigh.  Love them!  So Ladies, don’t be afraid of the trends of this season.  Weather you decide you add a little or add a lot of colour to your outfit, make it work for you.

Spring is the perfect time of year to embrace change.  I’m full of changes in my life lately.  I’m a newlywed, we’ve started home renovations, so I figured why not change my look.  Today I embraced change and decided to chop my hair off.  I’m loving my new look and how it makes me feel.  Change is a good thing!

The new do!
