It’s hard to start thinking about Fall when it’s so incredibly hot outside still…and well, it’s still summer.  However, I have been to a few Fall previews lately, so it’s starting to creep in.  Slowly.  One of the Fall collections I previewed recently was  Estee Lauder.  Ladies, the bold lip is back and the hues are richer than ever.  There is something so sexy about a bold lip.  Speaking of bold…these earrings are anything but subtle.  I have been on such a no earring or stud kick lately, I forgot how fun an oversized earring can be.

Tomorrow my out of office reply is set to go.  My husband and I are heading up to Pemberton and Whistler until Sunday.  It is our first trip away with just the two of us since we had Maddie. I’m really looking forward to it and at the same time I’m missing Madelyn already.  Here’s to a long weekend and enjoying every minute of summer!  xo

It took a while but Vancouver has now finally received Fall.  We had quite the extended hot weather this year, which was amazing, but I am LOVING the change of season.  Our furnace got switch on yesterday, I’m going through my piles of scarves to see what treasures I’ve forgotten about, and cardigans are being layered on.

I’ve been on a real basics kick lately, so this super cozy floral print cardi was a real departure from my everyday look.  It was kind of fun to play with some print and colour.  It has most of my fave hues, so it has been an easy piece to mix n’ match with existing items in my closet.  I’m sure this Farminista knit will become a fast favorite!

I would LOVE to be able to purchase a brand new wardrobe every season.  In fact, when I worked in retail, I practically did! {Gotta love that discount.}  Now that I have financial responsibilities like a house and family, I can’t indulge quite like I used to. {aka: trying to act like an adult}  I start off each new season with a closet purge.  There is always stuff in there that I have hung on to for way too long and really need to just give it up.  After that I shop my closet.  What do I already have?  How can I wear these pieces in a new way this season?  What new pieces could I add to enhance my existing wardrobe?  {You still need some new things.}

Some of these pieces I’m wearing above I have had for years now.  They are easy, quality, basics that I am able to wear lots of different ways and in different seasons.  It just goes to show that if you buy smart, you can get some real longevity out of your clothes.

Not me…this weather!  It is hard to believe that it is just past mid-September and we are still in the middle of a heat wave.  It was 30 degrees at my house a couple days ago.  Wowzas!  While I do love this prolonged sunshine, I could use just a bit of a cool down.  Not to be a brat, but I’ve got Fall shopping to do and this extreme heat is delaying me playing with cozy layers.

Continuing with the transitioning part of this time of year, I’m opting for snug skirts with bare legs, flowy easy blouses, and, my fave, ankle boots.  On a hot day I have to pull my hair back, so a high pony seemed like the perfect {and easy} choice.  I’ve also completely fallen in love with statement earrings.  These beauties from Olive & Piper totally made my look a bit more oh la la.
