Someone’s teeny hand photobombed my pic.  I guess she should be in an upcoming post soon.

The temperature is dropping, the leaves are turning colour, and everything is pumpkin flavoured…cue the fall uniform.  The great closet purge of 2015 continues.  As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been bringing a lot less into my closet then I’ve been getting rid of.  The new pieces that are joining my wardrobe are easy, classic items.  This outfit is a good representation of what I’ve been shopping for.  Love me some black!  It’s a classic hue for a reason.  Just bought this sweater yesterday from Loft.  I grabbed three great knit tops from them and all on sale.  Having a go to uniform can save you time when getting ready in the morning and make life a little simpler.

Tip: ALWAYS check the washing label.  It sucks when that sweater you had planned on wearing a few times a week is a hand wash or dry-clean only.

September has launched me into a very full season of work, new projects, events, family events {my husband, daughter, and my birthday are all in Oct. & Nov. + our Anniversay}, and even a family vacation in October to Palm Springs for a friends wedding.  I’m trying to cut back on the usual events I would attend this time of year, as I also have my most important role as Mom to fulfill.  We’ve been busy working on potty training the Little Miss.  We had a successful day yesterday…I will spare you the details.  We’ve also been going through a weird sleep regression with Maddie lately.  There have been a lot of interrupted sleeps over the last few weeks.  Even though it’s easier said then done, I’ve been repeating the same two pieces of advice to myself over and over….

1) Try to be organized to make life simpler.

2) When things aren’t organized, take a deep breath and let it go.

I love a clean house, a stocked fridge, empty laundry baskets, and everything in it’s place.  Lately, this has not been my reality.  Every day I just do my best and remember that I’m not the only Mom out there who struggles “get everything done”.  You just have to do your best and keep things simple so you can still enjoy the little things.  I’m always open to suggestions, so Moms, if you have tips on how you keep your household clean and organized, I’d love to hear them!

It took a while but Vancouver has now finally received Fall.  We had quite the extended hot weather this year, which was amazing, but I am LOVING the change of season.  Our furnace got switch on yesterday, I’m going through my piles of scarves to see what treasures I’ve forgotten about, and cardigans are being layered on.

I’ve been on a real basics kick lately, so this super cozy floral print cardi was a real departure from my everyday look.  It was kind of fun to play with some print and colour.  It has most of my fave hues, so it has been an easy piece to mix n’ match with existing items in my closet.  I’m sure this Farminista knit will become a fast favorite!

Boots have always been a tricky buy for me.  Apparently I have abnormally large calves that don’t fit into 90% of boots out there.  With the introduction of ankle boots, my footwear collection was able to expand last year.  The perfect solution for the large calved gal (or the small calved girl for that matter).  This year I’m on the search for the perfect pair of  flat ankle boots.  Something extremely comfy, easy to take off an on (I seem to have a belly in the way of bending over), and a pair that will go with almost everything in my closet.   Hopefully they won’t be too difficult to find.  I have lots of cute boots already in my closet, but unfortunately they aren’t fitting right now as my feet have grown with this pregnancy.  I have no choice.  Shopping must be done!

Adding a bit of shine to an outfit is an easy way to elevate any look.  With my Fall wardrobe being way more  on the casual side, I’ve been getting my glamour cravings fulfilled with my accessories.   This silver sequin clutch by Plum Shop Online was perfect for a dinner out with my husband.  It just made me feel that much more dressed.  After all, any good outfit is all about the finishing touches anyway, right?

Fall, the cozy season, is almost upon us.  I know most of us are starting to head to the shops to get a start on fall wardrobe building.  To infuse some chic comfort, try Old Navy‘s new crew.  It’s part sweater, part sweatshirt and all sorts of comfy.   They are perfect layered over your favorite button up and paired with a fab pair of denim.  Think stripes, jeweled embellishment, and yummy words adorning these cute tops.  This is exactly how I like to do comfort…with style.

One, two, and three are all now on sale until September 11th.  Go to OldNavy.ca  for more details.
