I feel like my trip to Maui last month put warm weather on my mind and has been clearly influencing my shopping.  In particular I’ve been drawn to orange sunset hues with some pretty pinks mixed in.

My inspiration.  Photos from my trip to Maui and Pinterest.

Sweater & Jacket: Maison Scotch,  Shoes: Lola Ramona from Miz Mooz,  Nail Polish: c/o Estee Lauder,  Fragrance: Sun c/o Lush Cosmetics

These are a few treats to make their way into my closet recently.  I’m completely in love with the Maison Scotch collection this season.  No surprise there.  I adore their clothes.  I bought these bright orange wedges before my trip.  They are quite comfy and crazy bright.  What’s not to love?  This new happy scented fragrance by Lush has become a fast favorite of mine.  It boasts fresh scents of orange, tangerine, and sandlewood and truly smells like a warm summer’s day.  I was recently given the chance to preview the new S/S ’13 collection by Estee Lauder.  This new nail lacquer will be next up on my manicure hit parade.

This is seriously the best dry shampoo product out there.  A bold statement I know, but in my humble opinion, you just can’t beat the quality and the price!  Only $8.99 CAD.  Thank you to the lovely people of Batiste for sending me new varieties to try.

I was lucky enough to get a full preview of all the new and exciting things coming from Estee Lauder this Spring/Summer season. (More info on this to come!)  This product has been a fave of mine for a while now.  It’s their Advanced Night Repair Eye serum.  Yes, it is as lovely as it sounds.

I know it’s not the first time you’ve seen these babies on my blog, but I’d be lying if I didn’t have them listed as one of my essentials.  I have Lancome Juicy Tubes stashed everywhere.  They’re in my car, my vanity, my makeup bag, and in almost every purse I own.  I don’t want to count how many I have.

Truthfully I haven’t been much of a nail polish girl until recently.  This last year I’ve really got into changing up my colours and having fun with it.  These beautiful hues c/o Joe Fresh were a welcome addition to my collection.  During my recent vacay in Maui, I picked up these super fun Island Girl polishes.  The purple one has a nail art pen and brush and the yellow one will smell like bananas when I put it on.  How fun is that?

I know this is not the sexiest product in the world, but I don’t know what I would do without my Neutrogena face wipes.  They take off all my make up so well and make my face squeaky clean.  They are perfect for traveling, camping (yes, I do that), and on all those lazy nights where this is the only way I’m washing my face before bed.

So! Any favorites you recommend that you just can’t live without?

Happy Friday! xo

It can be a real shock to the system to go from your winter beauty hibernation to full on summer skin exposure.  No, I’m not complaining that I get to enjoy a tropical winter vacation in Maui, but the thought of my body being unwrapped from it’s many layers of warmth and concealment is slightly worrisome.  With this in mind, this week I’ve been in full prep mode.  Here’s my before leaving beauty checklist:

1) Apply sunless tanner daily ( I use Lancome’s Flash Bronzer and Jergens Natual Glow)  2) Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize (This is a regular routine for me anyway, but I have kicked it up a notch.  I like Lancome’s Nutrix Royal Body.  At night I use Estee Lauder‘s Eye Night Serum (c/o)…a must!)  3) Pretty nails are an easy way to Summerize your look.  (I’m loving the new Spring hues from Joe Fresh! c/o)  4) Daily exfoliation is a great way to help give your skin a glow.  ( I use Dermalogica‘s Daily Microfoliant for my face.  5) Getting my feet sandal ready is always a bit of a chore.  To make sure they are soft and smooth, I have been using the Emjoi Micro-Pedi (c/o).  It’s a battery operated device that gently buffs away dry, hard skin from your tootsies.  It works really well.

Products I’ll be bringing with me include….Body Shop grapefruit body butter,(c/o) Joe Fresh polish (for touch ups), (c/o) Cherlyn Skincare products (I’m really in love with this line.  I’ve been trying out the product for a while now & I’m loving my soft skin and it’s fresh scent.  They use 100% natural ingredients and their products are designed to nourish the skin, promote healing, and provide a revitalizing lift for all skin types.),  Batiste dry shampoo (This stuff is amazing! I like the tropical scent for hot weather destinations),  (c/o) Avene Thermal Spring Water spritz, Dermalogica tinted moisturizer (with SPF), NYX waterproof mascara, (c/o) Joe Fresh “Just Peachy” eye & lip palette, (c/o) Lush Skin Tint (It gives your skin a warm glow).

Earrings: Love Coco c/o,  Sweater: Banana Republic, Ring: Paboom (old)

Before packing my bags I like to come up with a plan so I don’t pack un-needed clothes and products.  I suggest trying out a summer inspired look at home so you’re not packing your oxblood lipstick and winter hued shadows.

My complete look…soft and peachy.

Have any hot weather beauty tips or tricks?  I’d love to hear about them.

Here is the second look from the photo session I did with FM Photographics.  (See the first one here).   Styling from my own closet has been much more fun than I thought it would be.  When I worked in retail I was getting new clothes (and lots of them) every month…in high season, every week.   A pretty amazing thing, however, I often didn’t really wear many of the pieces I got.  I mean sure I’d wear them, but probably only a few times.   Getting dressed became too easy.  If I didn’t like what I was wearing, I would simply change into something new when I got to work.   Now that I no longer have this kind of shopping lifestyle, I’ve been forced to wear what I have and re-work some things in new ways.

This outfit was a fun one for me.  All the colours are very basic but when all these fabrics got mixed together, it just worked.  It’s kinda got a bit of an 80′s vibe to it and it will be an outfit I will be sure to turn to again.

Skirt: gift,  Jacket: Bardot,  T-shirt: Dex,  Gloves: Forever 21,  Clutch: Value Village,  Booties: Betsey Johnson,  Necklace: Claudia Accessories;  Lips: Estee Lauder  c/o

How about you?  Have you re-discovered a piece in wardrobe?  Anything you thought you were over but is now a favorite?
