Between working, blogging, motherhood, and the day to day hustle that is life, I haven’t been doing much that is ground breaking when it comes to my outfits.   As I’ve mentioned in many other posts, I’ve adopted a uniform mentality.  I’ve got my go-to looks that I stick too by mixing and matching some easy basics.  I simply don’t have the time I used to to spend getting ready.  A five minute shower, couple minutes to get dressed and then about ten minutes for hair and makeup is about the norm now.  Plus with all this hot weather we’ve been experiencing, why complicate things?

Instead of my usual black, grey, white combo, I opted to mix things up slightly with an easy red jersey dress, and neutral toned loose cardi.  With this being a work day outside the house, I left my hair down and threw on some shiny baubles as I didn’t have little hands grabbing at everything.

When I saw this dress hanging on the rack in the store, I thought of the famous Bill Blass quote: “When in doubt, wear red.”  I figured I’d go with those wise words.

When I think of The Great Gatsby, I think of lace, pearls, jewels, and exotic head wraps.  It’s a film where luxury and opulence are bountiful.  To take a style cue from this flick, based in the Roaring 20′s, I opted for a flattering white lace dress.  To keep that 20′s feel without getting too flapper costume like, I went with a modern ombre print scarf that I knotted and tied up turban style.  I also went with a 20′s inspired t-strap shoe but in a modern nubuck leather.  Accessories like this tassel pearl necklace, large gold cuff, and sequin clutch complete the look by adding some luxe.
