Since I have some of my Hawaii tan still on my legs, I figured I’d brave the cold and go with bare legs for my breakfast meeting with my Style Common crew.  I just haven’t wanted to give in to winter attire again.  I had been avoiding boots, but finally broke down and wore a pair to the Canucks game on Friday night.  Until Spring comes I’m sticking with lots of layers and plan on wearing prints and bright hues to keep things a bit more fun.  A few new colourful purchases have been made including this green colour block skirt from Joe Fresh.  With warm weather still a bit far away, I figure some Spring shopping helps warm your soul.

Made any Spring purchases yet?  What’s on your shopping list?

I now find it kinda funny that a couple months ago I was over this dress.  So over it in fact I had it tagged to sell at our (The Style Common‘s) Deck Your Closet Event.  To be honest, I was really surprised it didn’t sell.  It’s super flattering and really comfortable to wear although it has zero hanger appeal.  Since it made the trek back home with me from the sale I figured I’d give it another shot.   Now, I’m pretty happy no one snatched it up.  I think this will be a great dress to carry into Spring.

Whenever the sunshine makes an appearance in rainy Vancouver I somehow manage to convince myself that I can get away with wearing lighter clothes.  Not really the case.  We have had some beautiful weather, but more frigid temperatures (for West Coast standards).  In order to make this spring blazer warm enough (kinda), I relied on lots of layers.  I started with a tank tucked in to keep my back warm, then layered on a long sleeve tee, then this super cozy sweater with a scarf and then the blazer.   I was definitely pushing my luck with the bare feet in these shoes so after 10 mins of being outside I ran back into the house and switched to socks and neutral toned ankle boots and grabbed a pair of grey knit gloves while I was in there.

Blazer: H&M,  Sweater: Garcia, Jeans: AG, Scarf: H&M, Belt: Elise M, Clutch: Co-Lab, Earrings: c/o Love Coco, Broach: vintage (my grandmother’s), Bracelets: CPak & c/o Mala Imports, Shoes: consignment purchase

I recently thought I’d switch up my look by growing out my bangs a bit and having them brush off to the side.  No biggie, I’ve had this look before.  Well, a few weeks into this not so earth shattering decision, I had a minor meltdown and identity crisis.  I didn’t feel like me.  I felt like an older version of myself!  *gasp*  Clearly this would not do.  So in a full I’m-getting-older panic, I called in a 911 hair appointment and went back to my blunt bangs and shorter bob.  Phew!  Crisis averted.

Jacket: Maison Scotch (similar), Skirt: Forever 21 (pretty close), Belt: Inwear, Necklace: Aldo, Bracelets: CPak & c/o Mala Imports, Bag: Co-Lab from The Urban Rack

I’ve been trying to make the most of sunshiny days by wearing happy Summer pieces when I can.   White, florals, dresses, skirts!  Unfortunately with these days few and far between I feel like I’ve been in a rut.   It’s hard to feel inspired to get dressed in the morning with nothing but grey clouds in the forecast.

Tomorrow’s challenge…snap out of it!  Time to stop whining about this typical Vancouver weather and get on with my love affair with Spring clothes.
