Soooo, NBD but these are a pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans.  Who am I kidding?  It’s a HUGE deal!  Forget the scale!  It is a major feeling of accomplishment when all your working out starts paying off and you hear that zip as a pair of beloved jeans make their way over your new body.  I have some pretty fab jeans in my closet.  Happy I can start getting into them again.

This look was inspired after running into a friend of mine while she was shopping for items to take to Coachella.  She’s a mom and made a joke about her probably being the oldest one there.  Age, shmage!  Music festivals are for us all.  And the fashion?  There is a way to interpret the ever-so-popular boho look into something age appropriate and not at all costumey.  I found this gorgeous blouse on a shopping trip to Barefoot Contessa last week.  I loved the detail and flowy but flattering cut.  Boho items are perfect for when the sunshine starts to show itself and days get warmer.  It’s laid back and put together in the perfect West Coast way.  So mommies, I say break out the bell bottoms, grab a floral crown, and start throwing out those peace signs.

Oh the awkward time of year where we attempt to transition our wardrobe from winter to spring.  We inevitably are either way too hot or freezing.  It’s a tough sartorial balancing act.  One of my musts for my spring wardrobe is a denim jacket.  {Or in my case two denim jackets.  One more spendy & fitted to go with dresses, tanks, etc. and the other cheap and cheerful plus a bit roomier to layer over slightly bulkier items.}

I picked up this super cute polka dot dress with my June trip to San Fransisco in mind.  However, my motto is “buy it now, where it later…but also where it now” .  I’m still working on a catchier way of saying this.  I get too impatient to wait for the warm weather to kick in to wear my new, carefully selected, finds.  Yesterday was a warm sunny day that was screaming for me to throw this dress on.   {Dress details that I love…the elastic waist makes it perfect for my curvy figure…the adjustable straps allow for a proper fit in the bust area…for the hot weather I’ll pair it with a blue lacey bra, sandals, and my straw hat.}

It’s always challenging to shed my daily wardrobe of pj’s and cozies after the holidays and get back to actual clothes.  I refuse to be uncomfortable so I’ve been gravitating to my collection of knit dresses in my closet.  This one you’ve seen before and is an absolute favorite.  I wear this dress for everything from lunch and coffee dates, to running errands, to dinner parties.  I must do another Nicole Bridger shop soon!

This time of year is definitely all about socializing.  It’s impossible to have a new outfit for every occasion, however getting creative with layers and textures can transform your wardrobe to something new.  This outfit gave me that perfect balance of cozy but polished.  I layered two dresses to achieve my desired look.  I was warm enough to be outside taking pictures but not too warm when we were inside sipping London Fogs.  I feel like this one will be making a repeat showing over the holidays.

I will have a last minute Christmas gift post coming this weekend! Be sure to check back for some fun ideas.

Today is my three year wedding anniversary.  This past weekend, my husband and I celebrated a bit early and took a much needed break.  There was one side of me that felt like we needed to plan something big.   Jet off to some romantic tropical location, book a fabulous hotel, couples massages,….you get the picture.  We kept throwing around ideas but nothing really spoke to us.  Then finally we realized all we really wanted was just some quality time together.  We took Baby Girl over to Grandma’s house for a sleep over, took ourselves out for an early dins since we skipped lunch, and then we went for a walk down by the Quay.  We took advantage of the time and snapped some pics (these ones) and then grabbed a coffee at a fave little Italian place.  We went home and relaxed for a bit (I may have had a little nap) and then we went to a movie.  The next morning we SLEPT IN until 10:30!!!  The best!  Then took our cute, rested selves out for brunch before heading to the Home + Design Show and then off to reunite with our sweet girl.  All in all it was a perfect weekend.  It may not have been ritzy and glitzy, but we loved it.

Speaking of love….this ultra cozy knit dress by local Vancouver designer, Nicole Bridger, has become a go-to dress for me.  It’s like throwing on a warm hug.  I’ve been able to style it lots of different ways and I adore the longer length.  If you don’t yet have any NB hanging in your closet, check her out here.  The collection is available online or at her flagship boutique on West 4th Ave.  #LocalLove
