Lately, I have been coming out of my black and grey cocoon, and adding  some pops of colour to my life.  This look is a big pop!  When I first started to accessorize this dress, I was grabbing subtle and neutral items but I felt like this dress could handle more.  So instead I grabbed this big orange clutch (that is made of the most buttery soft leather) and some shiney gold things.  I even opted to add in one more bit of colour with this pretty pink matte lip colour by Lise Watier.  Sometimes a girl just needs to stand out.

This dress though!  It fits like a glove, is soft and stretchy, and very flattering on my curves.  I was recently introduced to this LA and London designed label, Voodoo Vixen.  They are known for their vintage inspired designs and definitely cater to a curvy gal (yes, they even come in plus sizes!)  This green hue is a red head’s dream come true.  It might just be the dress I’ll be wearing to celebrate my second Mother’s Day as a Momma.

This time of year is definitely all about socializing.  It’s impossible to have a new outfit for every occasion, however getting creative with layers and textures can transform your wardrobe to something new.  This outfit gave me that perfect balance of cozy but polished.  I layered two dresses to achieve my desired look.  I was warm enough to be outside taking pictures but not too warm when we were inside sipping London Fogs.  I feel like this one will be making a repeat showing over the holidays.

I will have a last minute Christmas gift post coming this weekend! Be sure to check back for some fun ideas.

I often describe my personal style as dressed up casual.  Plenty is the perfect place for me to find the right mix of comfort with an elevated twist. Plenty has been a Vancouver staple for shopping since it came on to the scene in 1989.  They offer up many fabulous international brands mixed with very coveted in house labels.  I am actually rocking all in house labels in this look.  Why do I love Plenty?  Let me count the ways….affordable, stylish, comfortable, laid back, friendly, versatile, fits my West Coast lifestyle, and LOCAL!

I had so much fun shopping their Fall collection.  Expect cozy knits, printed silks, touches of lace, fur embellishment, and endless options for layering.  Need help putting your look together?  No worries, not all of us love to shop as much as I do.  The staff is incredibly helpful and know how to help you style the perfect look FOR YOU.

Leggings and sweaters are West Coast staples.  I know leggings get a bad rap {Ladies, they aren’t pants, you have to cover your bum when you wear them.}  I demand comfort from my wardrobe, so leggings are admittedly a staple in my closet for the Fall/Winter season.   As someone who loathes hosiery, leggings are a great way to cover my legs comfortably.  And really…who says I can’t make my leggings look adorable?  I just did;)

For some reason the beginning of September seems to {unofficially} mark the end of Summer.  We still have a few weeks left, but there is this shift that seems to happen after Labour Day.  It gets darker earlier, there’s a coolness to the air, and I start thinking about my wardrobe for the upcoming season.

The word you will hear over and over again this next month is transition.  I start thinking/purchasing transition items at the beginning of August.   When shopping I ask myself, “Can I wear this now?” and “How will I wear it for Fall?”   I picked up this little BCBG dress at their outlet right near where I live.  It’s been perfect for now with sandals and boho accessories.  You will definitely see me reworking this dress in to the Fall season.  How?  You’ll have to check back.

I’ve been living in my current neighborhood for about three years.  I have realized recently that I haven’t fully explored it and there are so many little hidden gems I should be taking advantage of.  Over the weekend, my husband and I went to this pretty little park by the water only five minutes from our house.  I had no idea this place even existed.  Not only does it offer beautiful views, there is a pretty path for long walks.  With my little peanut coming in a few months, I’m sure we’ll be staying a bit closer to home.  This is the perfect time to discover more about where we live.  How well do you know your neighborhood?   Do you take advantage of all that it offers?
