Kimono & Sunnies: c/o Barefoot Contessa Boutique
Skirt & Top: The Urban Rack (old)
Necklace: Zuka Artful Accessories
Bag: c/o Old Navy
Shoes: Army & Navy

Working in a creative industry means no traditional work wear for this gal.  Stretchy pencil skirts, jersey tops, kimonos, and comfortable heels are appropriate and practical for client appointments, coffee meet ups, and lunch meetings.  This giant tote is perfect to throw my camera, planner, daily essentials, and a pair of flats in.  I love an easy boho feel for the warmer months, so why not for work days too?  To complete the look I add a few well appointed accessories like this necklace by local label Zuka Artful Accessories and a pair of over sized sunnies.

I feel so grateful to get to work along side my fabulous partner in crime, Alicia of Alicia Fashionista.  We have a uniquely wonderful professional relationship + a friendship I cherish.  I love that I get to be a full time mom + blog + work with inspiring local business owners who challenge me to be better and I continue to learn from.  Oh, and did I mention I get to play with pretty clothes?  Thank you to the super fab staff at Barefoot Contessa for helping me pick out some sweet new Spring pieces like this pretty kimono.

Motherhood.  One of the most challenging and rewarding things I have ever done in my life.  As a work from home Mom, I am constantly trying to find that perfect balance.  As I’m writing this, Madelyn is sitting on my feet flipping through her books.  I do feel very privileged to be able to work on things I’m passionate all while being a stay at home mom.  As a blogger I often feel like I’m in this weird no-mans land (or no-womans land).  I’m a style blogger who’s a mom and while writing about fashion has been my main gig, I can’t help but be influenced by my bright little light running around the house.  I hope to have more posts soon that travel into the Mom realm.  After all, being authentic is so important to me so flexing my mom muscles only makes sense.

Having said all that, enter Maddie in today’s style post!  Needless to say, my body has changed and morphed a lot from pregnancy.  As a result of that and a pretty major lifestyle change, my personal style has evolved too.  One item I’ve coveted in my wardrobe before, during, and after pregnancy are my Flatter Me Belts.  These amazing belts are stretchy, adjustable, and lay nice and flat.  When I was newly sporting the bump, this belt kept my pants up when my button could no longer be done up.  When I wanted to cinch in a dress but still be comfortable my FMB was perfect!  And now, while I’m loosing weight (ya, it takes a while for some of us), I rock this belt to keep up my pants until I can make it out to purchase a size down.   I have been wearing FMB for over 4 years now.  I first met the designer, Claire,  when I was an accessory buyer at The Urban Rack in Vancouver.  They are the most comfortable belts and have been a staple in my wardrobe ever since.  Mother’s Day came early for my Mom as she will be traveling next month.  You bet that one of her gifts was a belt in new hue Good Greycioius!   Flatter Me Belts currently has a promo on.  From now until May 3rd get 2 belts for $60 and your shipping is free!  Just use my shopping code PGMOMSDAY .

Lastly, how adorable are these matching Mommy & Me SaltWater Sandals?  I had to get us each a pair when I was in Barefoot Contessa last time in.  They carry the wee ones sandals at the Commercial Drive location only.  I love matching her…even though I use to swear I would never go there.  Oh how things change!

Romper: c/o Barefoot Contessa
Shoes: Miz Mooz c/o Shoes on Fourth
Clutch: Value Village
Bracelet: Stella & Dot

I think rompers are adorable!  One problem, I’ve never been able to find one that suits me and fits.  Most rompers are geared towards a smaller, younger, tighter figure than mine.  Not cutting myself down, just a fact.  I was pumped when I found this sexy yet age and lifestyle appropriate romper at Barefoot Contessa.  It fits me perfectly and shows off what I’m comfortable showing off and flatters the rest.  It’s still way too cold to break it out here in Vancouver, but I will be packing it for my trip to San Fransisco in June.  A girl’s gotta plan ahead!

Kimono & Shoes: c/o Barefoot Contessa
Jeans: Old Navy
Top: H&M
Clutch: H&M (old)

When life gets busy I can feel like a disheveled mess.  My brain is going in a thousand directions, my house gets messy, and my closet becomes a heap of clothes thrown on a chair.  Just yesterday I found myself squatting and scooping up change off the sidewalk after I pulled my open, upside down wallet out my bag to pay for parking.  I was running late for a meeting due to a poopy diaper incident as I was trying to get out of the house to drop her off at Grandma’s for the day.  You know, the usual mom frenzy.

When jeans and a tee are the easiest thing to throw on, I like to have a couple of pieces on hand to kick my look up a notch.  Kimonos are a go-to for this time of year.  They are soft, feminine, and instantly make me feel put together even when I don’t feel like it.  This beauty will carry me through the Summer months as well as some upcoming trips.

Top & Shoes: c/o Barefoot Contessa
Jeans: AG Jeans (pre-pregnancy jeans yo!)
Sunnies: Rayban
Bag: Brave Leather
Earrings: c/o Keltie Leanne
Bracelet: c/o Charles & Grace

Soooo, NBD but these are a pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans.  Who am I kidding?  It’s a HUGE deal!  Forget the scale!  It is a major feeling of accomplishment when all your working out starts paying off and you hear that zip as a pair of beloved jeans make their way over your new body.  I have some pretty fab jeans in my closet.  Happy I can start getting into them again.

This look was inspired after running into a friend of mine while she was shopping for items to take to Coachella.  She’s a mom and made a joke about her probably being the oldest one there.  Age, shmage!  Music festivals are for us all.  And the fashion?  There is a way to interpret the ever-so-popular boho look into something age appropriate and not at all costumey.  I found this gorgeous blouse on a shopping trip to Barefoot Contessa last week.  I loved the detail and flowy but flattering cut.  Boho items are perfect for when the sunshine starts to show itself and days get warmer.  It’s laid back and put together in the perfect West Coast way.  So mommies, I say break out the bell bottoms, grab a floral crown, and start throwing out those peace signs.
